Exploring Learning Beyond the Classroom: Fall Field Trips at The Legacy School

At The Legacy School, we believe in the power of experiential learning, and this fall, our students have embarked on exciting field trips that enrich their understanding of key content areas in social studies, science, and literacy. These outings not only provide a break from the routine but also allow students to engage with their learning in a hands-on environment.

On September 19, students from Rotations and Ms. Elizabeth’s classes visited the Baltimore Museum of Industry. This trip allowed our students to explore the rich industrial history of Baltimore, connecting their social studies lessons to real-world applications. They discovered how workers and innovation have shaped our community, gaining insights into the past that will enhance their understanding of concepts previously taught in History class.

Just a few weeks later, on October 10, the Barn and Ms. Paige’s classes followed suit with their own visit to the Baltimore Museum of Industry. This trip reinforced the connections made during their earlier content lessons and allowed for a really fun day of learning, cutting, sewing, and shucking and canning “oysters” on the Baltimore waterfront.

The learning continued on October 11 when Rotations and Ms. Elizabeth’s classes traveled to Planet Word in Washington DC. This immersive experience focused on literacy, where students explored the power of language through interactive exhibits and engaging activities.

Soon the Primary and Primary Plus classes will be taking their own field trip to the Red Barn Ranch for some fall fun and learning.

We are proud of our students for their enthusiasm and curiosity during these field trips. These experiences not only reinforce the concepts taught in class but also help students make meaningful connections between their studies and the world around them. We look forward to more adventures as we continue to explore and learn together this school year!
